This quote came from the book, "Satan in the Soul of Man", by Erich Neumann. Neumann was a German psychologist who wrote books about insanity and the occult. He made the statement, “Man has the power to act as his own destroyer—and that is the way he has acted through most of his history.” The idea is that man has always acted towards himself what he has felt towards others. This idea is not very true, because some people do not have the power to destroy themselves. Those people are called saints.
